Monarch of the Dunes

Species: Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus)

Location: Lindisfarne Holy Island, England

Among the grassy dunes of Lindisfarne Holy Island’s coastal nature reserve, I stumbled across this male roe deer. It was a thoroughly unexpected encounter as the island is so small and relatively remote for Britain but I made the most of it, being lucky enough to capture the animal standing regally among its reserve.
