Location: Wellington Region, North Island, Aotearoa/New Zealand

The bright underwing of this North Island Kākā catching the light really sets this shot apart. Even better was to capture this endemic parrot against a pristine forest backdrop, the very same habitat that is key to the species’ recovery.
