Fleeting

Species: Pīwakawaka / New Zealand fantail (Rhipidura fuliginosa)

Location: Wellington Region, North Island, Aotearoa/New Zealand

The title of this image “Fleeting” describes these gorgeous little birds perfectly. After weeks of seeing them on the wing, dancing around with their eponymous fan tails I finally snapped this one as it settled on a pebbly beach by the Cook Strait. Worth the wait for one of Aotearoa / New Zealand’s little treasures.
