Species: Short-eared Owl (Aseo flammeus)

Location: Bempton Cliffs, East Yorkshire, England

Locked in. This short-eared owl had spent multiple hours heading out and back among the fields of the East Yorkshire coast. Due to winter reducing the available prey numbers, many species of owls in temperate climates have to extend their hunting hours into the daylight. It may not be ideal for them (or their prey) but for wildlife photographers it is a unique opportunity to see these elusive predators.
