A Rest Among the Rocks

Species: Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra)

Location: Isle of Mull, Scotland

One of the things I love most about capturing wildlife on camera is being able to view natural behaviours, but all is not as it seems here. During extended observation of this Eurasian otter, I snapped this shot as it scratched its salty fur on the rocks, in this frame with its relaxed body and closed eyes, it looks as though the otter has peacefully drifted to sleep.
