A Quick Sip

Species: Southern Double-Collared Sunbird (Cinnyris chalybeus)

Location: Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Western Cape, South Africa

Sunbirds are some of Kirstenbosch’s most spectacular residents. This male, in its iridescent plumage, is shot here coming in to land and feed on the nectar of one of the garden’s plethora of flowers. From the fynbos to the coast, this region of South Africa is one of the best imaginable for these nectarivores.
